Remembering our beloved Prophet (SAW)

Today we commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him), the true universal Messenger of Allah to the whole of mankind. This day holds great significance for all Muslims as it reminds them of Allah’s (SWT) great blessing in the form of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The noble Al-Quran states:
“Allah verily hath shown grace to the believers by sending unto them a messenger of their own who reciteth unto them His revelations, and causeth them to grow, and teacheth them the Scripture and wisdom; although before (he came to them) they were in flagrant error.” (QS Aal-i-Imraan/3:164).
So we must express our gratitude this day. Indeed we are holding Dzkiri ceremonies and mass gatherings in all four districts of Brunei Darussalam to mark “Maulidur Rasul”. But that should not be the end of it. We have to express our love for the Prophet (PBUH) through our acts and deeds. The best way to do this is to follow the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) in every sphere of life. Allah (SWT) tells us that he who obeys His Messenger (PBUH) obeys Him:
“He who obeys the Messenger (Muhammad) has indeed obeyed Allah, but he who turns away, then we have not sent you (Muhammad) as a watcher over them.” (QS An-Nissa/4: 80)
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led an exemplary life. He has shown perfection in all areas of life. Being a leader, a commander, a husband, a father and a slave of Allah, he is the best example for us as Allah (SWT) says:
“Verily in the messenger of Allah ye have a good example for him who looketh unto Allah and the Last Day, and remembereth Allah much”. (QS Al-Ahzab/33:21)
So no matter who we are and what role we are playing in life, we all can seek guidance from the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He was the most perfect human being on Earth. No one can ever be able to fully explain the great attributes of the greatest man in this universe. No one can ever give the Holy Prophet (PBUH), his due description. He was even praised by Allah: “And verily, you (O Muhammad) are on an exalted standard of character.” (QS Al-Qalam/68: 4)
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) combined both perfection of creation and perfection of manners. He was the most merciful, gentle and amiable to all people. The Prophet (PBUH) is known as Siddiq and Ameen (the Truthful and the Trustworthy).
Allah (SWT) sent His Messenger with Guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over all religions. He says:
“It is He who hath sent His messenger with the guidance and the religion of truth, that He may make it conqueror of all religion however much idolaters may be averse.” (QS As-Saff: 61/9)
Today when Muslim Ummah is facing a plethora of problems, seeking guidance from the noble life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is indeed the best course of action. We have to re-examine our lives as individuals as well as an Ummah in the light of the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH).
